The celebration, rooted in events from 1345, is currently organized by the Associació La Misteriosa Llum. This civil entity took over from the ancient brotherhood in the late 20th century to preserve a tradition that Mayor Marc Aloy describes as uniquely Manresan.
“"La Llum is ours alone and serves to reaffirm our values and recognize ourselves in our own tradition."
A key point of contention is the Fira de l'Aixada medieval fair. While the event has expanded, Ballús criticizes the inclusion of an imaginary meeting between King Pere III and the Bishop of Vic, arguing it could lead to historical confusion.
The festival was included in the Generalitat de Catalunya's Festive Heritage Catalogue in 2015. Experts emphasize that while artistic contributions are vital, the core historical narrative must remain undistorted for future generations.
