The Foto Art Manresa association has reinstalled the exhibition Breaking the Silence at the Casal de les Escodines in Manresa, a showcase that denounces the pain caused by gender-based violence.

This initiative was born a decade ago from the collaboration between the photographers of Foto Art Manresa and the now-defunct Lilium Mutual Aid Group. The project emerged when members of the association learned about the experiences of abuse survivors, transforming their stories into artistic images.
The exhibition Breaking the Silence features photographs accompanied by literal quotes from the victims, although the works are signed by the photographers to protect the anonymity of the women involved.
Since its debut, the collection has traveled to over 40 locations, including hospitals, libraries, and the Lledoners prison. Now, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the association, it returns to highlight the role of art in social activism.
