The new phase of the works, which are transforming the central commercial street into a pedestrian zone, will focus on the section between Plaça de Neus Català and Carrer de Circumval·lació. This operation, expected to last six months, will officially begin on Monday, January 19, exactly one year after the overall transformation of the street started.

Although the previous section, between Muralla and Esquilets, has accumulated a slight delay and will not be completed until the end of February, Mayor Marc Aloy reaffirmed the overall timeline. The goal is for the entirety of Carrer Guimerà to be finished before the Fira de Sant Andreu, which takes place on November 30 and marks the start of the Christmas campaign in the city.
The start of Phase 3 will entail significant changes in urban mobility. Left turns will be permitted on Carrer de l'Era Firmat towards Puigterrà de Baix or Sant Joan Baptista de la Salle (Esquilets). Furthermore, the direction of traffic on Puigterrà de Baix will be reversed, becoming an exit route towards the Carretera de Vic. Taxi drivers will relocate to a designated stop in the second section of the Passeig, and a loading/unloading zone will be established on the Guimerà section near Carrer de Casanova.
In the section already under construction between Muralla and the Esquilets junction, eighteen six-meter-high trees have been planted, having been reserved specifically for this project. Mayor Aloy highlighted that “normally, we do not plant trees of these dimensions, but we wanted a street as emblematic as Guimerà to have attractive tree cover from the very beginning.” Phase 3, however, will require the felling of existing trees and the complete renewal of the sewage system, as it had not been redeveloped for many years.
