A court in Manresa has dismissed the assault charges filed by a Mossos d'Esquadra officer against Albert Forcades, a 67-year-old protester, following an incident in Montserrat.

The incident took place during a visit by King Felipe VI. Video evidence showed that an officer's attempt to seize a flag caused a flexible fishing rod to accidentally hit another officer. Despite this, police reports initially accused Forcades of a deliberate criminal assault.
The case has sparked political controversy in the Catalan Parliament. While Police Director Josep Lluís Trapero initially described the object as a weapon, the judicial ruling confirmed it was a simple fishing rod. Interior Minister Núria Parlon continues to support the officer's version of events.
