Strong winds recorded this Sunday have caused rocks to detach from the retaining wall at the main access to Cardona, the same wall that partially collapsed last January.

The incident, which resulted in no injuries or material damage, occurred in the morning. The Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Firefighters) received the alert around 11:30 AM and quickly moved to Avinguda del Rastrillo to inspect the area and confirm there was no danger.
This eight-meter wall had already suffered a partial collapse in January of this year, due to causes that are still under investigation. That incident happened in the early morning, thus preventing personal casualties, although it did cause material damage to five vehicles and several utility poles.
This Sunday's new rockfall occurs just one week after reconstruction work on the wall began. These works aim to guarantee citizen safety, preserve the heritage value of the area, and restore normality to the zone.
