The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the violent death of a 51-year-old man in the Vilafruns colony, Balsareny, whose body was discovered on the night of February 25.

The victim, identified as J.L., lived alone in the former mining colony. The discovery was made after a relative alerted the police when they were unable to contact him. Officers found the body with signs of being restrained and injuries inflicted by a blunt object.

"We had no record of the man having committed criminal acts or being involved in violent episodes."

The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) is leading the inquiry to identify those responsible. While neighbors reported no unusual noises on the night of the crime, some noted suspicious vehicle movements near the victim's home in recent months.
