More than a hundred people gathered this Saturday in Santpedor to protest the arrest of former councilor Aniol Vila and the appointment of a representative linked to Aliança Catalana.

The demonstration, held at Gran U d'Octubre Square, was organized by the Santpedor Antifeixista platform. Protesters expressed their opposition to Jordi Soteras, who joined the council as an independent but has publicly aligned himself with the far-right party Aliança Catalana.

"Our rights have been trampled, the police protect racists."

The conflict stems from a council meeting on February 8th, where Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested Aniol Vila during a protest. A new demonstration is scheduled for next Wednesday in front of the Manresa courts during Vila's trial.
