The railway sector strike began this Monday morning without the full compliance of all programmed minimum services, according to sources confirmed by Renfe. Given the "disruptions" caused by the stoppage, the company recommended using alternative transport. At the Manresa station, although minimum services for drivers were met, significant delays were recorded.
The morning was marked by chaos and lack of information in the capital of Bages. By 7 AM, no train or bus had departed, and the station was crowded with passengers demanding information. The Renfe staff present did not have clear data and had to consult the drivers regarding the scheduled departure time. The information screens remained permanently black.
Finally, the first train, scheduled for 6:58 AM, departed with a 20-minute delay. Shortly after, a second, almost empty, train left. Buses, a service initially unplanned, began arriving at 7:30 AM. This situation led to scenes of confusion, such as passengers being asked to disembark a half-full bus to quickly board a suddenly announced train.
“"We have to take it with stoicism."
This stoppage is the first of three strike days called to demand more personnel and safety measures on the tracks, although negotiation channels remain open with the Ministry of Transport. The call for the strike follows the fatal accidents in Adamuz and Gelida and affects over a thousand drivers in Catalonia, also including intervention, station, and administrative staff.
