The Rodalies commuter rail network in Catalonia has yet to recover full service by March 20, two months after the fatal accident in Gelida, currently operating at 85% capacity.

The state of the railway infrastructure remains critical. According to Adif, there will be 206 temporary speed restrictions active next week, significantly higher than the 133 recorded before the crisis began on January 20. This service degradation is further complicated by scheduled works and recent cable thefts.
Regarding affected lines, the R3 remains closed between Ripoll and Puigcerdà until April, while the R4 uses shuttle trains between Manresa and Terrassa. Other lines including R8, R7, and R15 also face partial or total closures, forcing Renfe to provide alternative bus services.

"We are not in a position to offer the same service we had before the crisis."

In response, the Government and the Ministry of Transport have extended free travel until March 31. Meanwhile, Adif has launched an emergency contingency plan with a 110 million euro investment to conduct 700 deep inspections across the network.
