More than 4,200 people gathered this Sunday in Sant Fruitós de Bages to celebrate a new edition of the Rice Festival, a century-old tradition that exceeded last year's attendance figures.

The El Bosquet area was filled with the scent of firewood and traditional cooking. This year, 37 teams competed in the paella contest, while organizers distributed 3,500 portions of rice, 300 more than in the previous edition, thanks to the work of fifty cooks.

"It is incredible how they can make 14 or 16 pans of rice and have them all be so good; Sant Fruitós is lucky to have these people."

Joan Carles Batanés · Mayor of Sant Fruitós de Bages
In the competition, the jury from the Alícia Foundation awarded the top prize to the ossobuco rice prepared by the IESOS group. The event also featured a craft fair, traditional Sardana dancing, and a gathering of giant figures (gegants) from ten different towns.
