The Sant Salvador de Guardiola City Council, supported by the Consorci del Bages, launches the new waste management model with closed containers on Monday, February 9, aiming to boost recycling rates.

The implementation process of this new model, which seeks to achieve the recycling targets set by the European Union, has been preceded by months of informational work and preparation. The containers are now installed and ready to begin this new phase of waste management in the municipality.
Over the past few weeks, several informative talks have been held, and recycling kits have been distributed, including the small bin and the identification card necessary to open the containers. The Consorci del Bages highlighted that 80% of households have already collected their kit, a figure considered satisfactory and within usual standards.

The main objective of this change is to improve recycling percentages, reduce the residual fraction, and promote more efficient separation.

In addition to material distribution, environmental awareness actions have been promoted, such as a visit to the Bufalvent Environmental Park, which allowed participants to learn firsthand about waste treatment and the importance of correct separation.
The municipal team of Sant Salvador de Guardiola is aware that the first few days may generate some inconvenience or incidents. Nevertheless, they commit to responding quickly and supporting citizens during the adaptation period, thanking the collaboration of the residents for making this step towards a more sustainable municipality possible.
