Cardona prioritizes housing and urban improvement with the 2026 budget

The municipal accounts, totaling 7.3 million euros, include the construction of six new homes and rental aid.

The Cardona City Council approved the 2026 budget, prioritizing the construction of six homes in Cal Muntada and the refurbishment of municipal buildings.

The municipal budget recently approved for the 2026 fiscal year amounts to 7,327,013.74 euros, representing an increase of 3.83% compared to the previous year. This economic injection will primarily be used to strengthen housing policies and improve urban infrastructure, according to the council.
The main focus regarding housing is the creation of six new homes in Cal Muntada, in addition to the rehabilitation of municipal flats located in the Casa dels Gegants building and the Colònies Arquers. Simultaneously, aid to facilitate access to rental housing is maintained, with a provision of 22,000 euros.

Regarding urban improvement, 120,000 euros have been allocated for public roads, 65,000 euros for rural paths, and 45,000 euros for sewerage. Significant investments will also be made in the rehabilitation of the historic center, including work at Plaça del Dr. Merli, the Portal de Graells, and the facades of the Casa dels Gegants and the City Hall.
Finally, the accounts reinforce social care and the educational sector, with 15,200 euros allocated for the Projecte Comunitari Musicant. Improvements are also planned for key facilities such as the Municipal Sports Pavilion, the Municipal Swimming Pool, and the installation of photovoltaic solar panels, in addition to continuing the Streets and Squares Plan.
