The priest of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE), Gustavo Lombardo, has been transferred from the Santa Maria de Valldaura parish in Manresa to one in Getafe after generating significant controversy with his public declarations.

The former rector of Manresa has been relocated to a parish in Getafe also managed by the IVE, the religious congregation to which he belongs. Although it is unconfirmed whether the decision came from the Bishop of Vic, Romà Casanova, or his congregation, the Bishopric had previously reprimanded the priest for his controversial views.
Lombardo used his YouTube channel and social media to label abortion, gender ideology, and the LGTB community as “demonic.” He also criticized the correfoc (fire run) during the Manresa Main Festival last year, calling it a trivialization of the devil, a message he conveyed in a homily.
Following the statements, the Mayor of Manresa, Marc Aloy, requested a meeting with the bishop to state that the priest's positions were “totally out of place.” The Bishopric of Vic confirmed that appropriate actions had been taken.

"The bishopric has taken the appropriate actions when these things happen. We have spoken with the interested party and his religious superior."

In Manresa, Lombardo has been replaced as rector by Alejandro Ramon Robledo. In Getafe, his new role will be that of an 'adscrit,' a collaborating priest without governing or legal authority, who will assist in the sacramental and pastoral life of the parish.
