The talk, titled “Main Astronomical Ephemerides of the year 2026”, will take place at 7 p.m. and will be given by Núria Camps, a member of the association. Camps will offer practical advice on how to view and photograph the year's most notable phenomena.
“"We are entering a good streak of very notable eclipses that will last until 2028."
The total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026 is an exceptionally rare event in Catalonia. It will be the first time in 121 years that the Moon completely covers the Sun from part of the territory, as the last similar event occurred on August 30, 1905.
This phenomenon will turn day into night for a brief interval. The Generalitat (Catalan Government) has created a specific website where it has identified about twenty recommended observation points, located mainly in the southern half of Catalonia. For the city of Manresa, the maximum eclipse is expected at 20h 28m 49s, with the eclipse ending at sunset.
