The Twentieth Section of the Barcelona Court will try next Friday a Dominican citizen accused of continuous abuse and sexual assault against his partner in Manresa, acts allegedly committed between December 2022 and July 2023.

The trial will be held next Friday, February 6, at the Provincial Court of Barcelona. The accused has been in preventive detention since his arrest on July 14, 2023, following the victim's complaint.
According to the provisional conclusions filed by the Prosecutor's Office, the relationship, which lasted seven months, was marked by constant control, possessive attitudes, humiliation, and repeated physical assaults. This situation generated strong dependence, fear, and isolation in the victim.

The Prosecutor's Office classifies the events as constituting habitual abuse, two counts of domestic abuse, and one count of aggravated sexual assault.

The most serious incidents allegedly occurred on the night of July 9 to 10, 2023, when the man sexually assaulted his partner, using physical violence despite her express refusal. Injuries resulting from this episode, as well as previous injuries, were documented at the Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu de Manresa.
The Public Ministry requests 14 years in prison for the sexual assault charge, and additional sentences close to two and a half years for the abuse charges. Furthermore, the accused is required to compensate the victim with 320 euros for injuries and 9,000 euros for moral damages.
