The Italian and Swiss author, Giuliano da Empoli, known for his acclaimed novel The Wizard of the Kremlin, now presents The Hour of the Predators, a text halfway between essay and chronicle that analyzes current geopolitics.
Da Empoli, who served as a political advisor to former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, confirms in his new book the uncontrolled replacement of the liberal democratic order by chaos. This disorder directly benefits the emerging alliance between authoritarian leaders and the magnates of technological giants.

The text travels from the UN to Saudi Arabia, where it mentions figures like the Machiavellian Mohammed bin Salman. The author focuses on “the conquerors of tech,” such as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, who, according to him, have a life philosophy based on “the desire to mess everything up” rather than competent management.
It should also be noted that the film version of his previous novel, The Wizard of the Kremlin, which fictionalizes Putin's rise to power, is scheduled to hit theaters in early March.
