The jury of the 29th Catalan Sports Festival has selected mountaineer Kílian Jornet and swimmer Iris Tió as the best Catalan athletes of 2025, both set to be awarded on January 26 at CaixaForum.

Mountaineer Kílian Jornet from Cerdanya and artistic swimmer Iris Tió from Barcelona have been named the most outstanding athletes of 2025 by the jury of the Catalan Sports Festival. This event is organized by the Union of Catalan Sports Federations (UFEC), the Sports Department of the Generalitat, and the newspaper Sport.
The jury recognized Jornet for achieving third place in the Western States 100, one of the world's most prestigious ultratrails. His feat of ascending 72 mountains over 4,627 meters in the United States in 31 consecutive days, traveling only by foot and bicycle, was also highlighted.
For her part, Iris Tió made history during the last Singapore World Championships by becoming the first swimmer to win a medal in all four modalities: solo, duet, mixed, and team, accumulating three golds and three bronzes. She also secured fifteen additional medals during the World Cup events, nine of which were gold.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, January 26, at the CaixaForum auditorium. Other winners include Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García and climber Geila Macià as athletes with the most potential, and the Vilasana roller hockey club as the most successful team. The Spanish artistic swimming coach, Andrea Fuentes, received the best coach award, and water polo player Felipe Perrone received the 'legendary athlete 360' award in his retirement year.
