The PAHC Bages and supporting groups halted the eviction of 'Block 8' in Manresa's Tudela passage this Wednesday, demanding the City Council expropriate the building for social housing.

About sixty people called by the PAHC Bages managed to postpone the eviction of an occupied block in the Tudela passage in the Plaça Catalunya neighborhood of Manresa. The building, known as 'Block 8', has been occupied since 2021 and houses six families, including eight minors.

The judicial delegation, accompanied by a patrol of the Mossos d'Esquadra, decided to postpone the eviction until February 9. The PAHC fears that on this new date, ARRO forces will be mobilized to carry out the forced displacement of the residents.
Following the postponement, the protesters marched to the city center to reiterate their demand to the Manresa City Council: the expropriation or purchase of the block. The building is owned by the vulture fund Cerberus, with which the PAHC states it is “impossible to contact” to negotiate social rents.
The resident Yuli highlighted that this is the third eviction attempt they face. Furthermore, she emphasized that the families had to rehabilitate the building, which was in a “totally uninhabitable” state when they occupied it. Currently, the PAHC manages nine occupied buildings in Manresa.
