The funeral of Mossèn Estanilau Corrons, who died on Epiphany at the age of 93, was held this Thursday at the Crist Rei parish in Manresa, presided over by the Bishop of Vic, Romàs Casanova.

The farewell ceremony for the priest, who led the parish for 23 years, gathered a large number of faithful. Bishop Casanova was accompanied by about twenty priests from Manresa and the surrounding region.

"Deeply in love with his ministry, he served the parish beyond his strength, often forgetting his limitations."

During the homily, Romàs Casanova recalled Corrons' 68 years of priesthood, emphasizing that he received them “as a gift to serve his brothers and sisters”. He also valued his works of “service and charity for all the people who knocked on his door”.

"A servant of the city of Manresa, of the gospel, and of the Church has died."

The emotional nature of the event was enhanced by music. A relative performed the moving Cant dels ocells on the flugelhorn. At the end of the ceremony, a spokesperson for the Crist Rei parish thanked “Mn. Lau” for his work, and a niece recalled his character and “fine humor,” before the service concluded with the performance of the Vilorai.
