The group Nastallat, led by singer Laia Rius, has been crowned the winner of the XIX Sons de la Mediterrània Contest, held on October 15 at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa.

The electroball de bot project Nastallat emerged victorious in the final, which also featured performances by the sea shanty group De Gairó and the rumba formation La Mare del Tanu. The jury highlighted the quality, novelty, and growth potential of all three finalist proposals.
Nastallat, comprising Laia Rius (vocals and production), Juan Blas (bass and moog), and Sara Mingolla (keyboards), fused electronic textures with traditional Mallorcan ball de bot patterns and performed a version of the Goigs de Sant Bartomeu d’Igualada. The jury particularly praised the project's innovative approach to danceable music, its ability to connect with the audience, and its future growth potential within the Obrador d’arrel program.
The group De Gairó presented a repertoire of sea shanties and sailor songs with contemporary lyrics, while La Mare Del Tanu, fronted by singer and trombonist Joana Voisin, showcased original rumba catalana compositions enhanced by dancers.
As winners, Nastallat will perform at upcoming editions of festivals such as Tradicionàrius, Ethno Catalonia, FIMPT, Música a la Vila, FiM Vila-seca, and Korre K Token, in addition to recording an album and participating in the Fira Mediterrània's Obrador d’arrel.
The Sons de la Mediterrània Contest is organized by Grup Enderrock and Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius, with support from various entities and the Fira Mediterrània.
The fair also showcased the progress of other past contest participants, including the vocal trio Aluca (2024 finalists) and the folk quartet Trèvol (2023 winners). On Saturday, October 17, the group Sorguen (last year's winners) will perform at Plaça Sant Domènec.
