The skier from Osona, Quim Salarich, flag bearer for the Spanish delegation at the Winter Olympic Games, is motivated and prepared to compete in the special slalom on February 16 in Italy, aiming for an ambitious performance.

The skier from La Molina Club d'Esports faces his third consecutive Olympic Games. The special slalom event, scheduled for February 16, is known for being treacherous, as it prevented him from finishing the runs in the two previous editions, at PyeongChang 2018 and Pequín 2022.

"A racer goes to the Games looking for results; achieving the finish line and getting just a correct result is not enough for me. This often means you might go off track."

Quim Salarich · Skier and Olympic Flag Bearer
Salarich, who shares the honor of being flag bearer with figure skater Olivia Smart, was informed of the decision on January 19. After the opening ceremony, the skier will return to La Molina to train under specific conditions on February 10, 11, and 12, before flying back to Bormio. This preparation at home will allow him to harden the slope to simulate the conditions he will face at the Games.
The 32-year-old skier emphasizes that previous experience helps him manage the pressure of having everything at stake in a single race. After achieving good results in the World Cup (a fifth and a seventh place), he is now aware that he can aim for a great performance, unlike the first Games where he only went to “live the experience.”
