Judge Juan Carlos Peinado formally dismissed the case against the Government Delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, two weeks after the Madrid Provincial Court ordered the termination of the investigation.

The decision by Judge Peinado comes after the appeals chamber corrected the investigating judge in the case against the president’s wife, Begoña Gómez, who had previously charged Martín Aguirre with alleged embezzlement of public funds.
The appeals court had previously indicated that the investigation against the Government Delegate was based on “mere suppositions,” forcing the dismissal of the proceedings.

It is fully accredited that the investigated party has not participated in the crime of embezzlement of public funds.

The judicial order, dated December 17, agrees to the free dismissal of the proceedings concerning Martín Aguirre, completely severing his link to the main investigation.
