The Catalan Land Institute (INCASÒL) has started works to transform the former Civil Guard barracks in Sant Vicenç de Castellet into twelve official protected rental homes, involving an investment of almost one million euros.

The rehabilitation project, expected to last approximately one year, has a budget of 942,204.22 euros (plus VAT) and is fully financed by INCASÒL. The intervention will adapt the eleven existing dwellings and create a new one on the ground floor, where the barracks' offices were previously located.

"We are taking another step in the execution of the Pla 50.000 with the start of the rehabilitation works of the Civil Guard barracks in Sant Vicenç de Castellet, which the Catalan Land Institute (INCASÒL) will convert into 12 affordable rental homes."

The works, awarded to the company Serveis Integrals 360 Plus and directed by Brezze Innovación Arquitectos, will include substantial improvements in energy efficiency and accessibility. Exterior carpentry will be replaced, and an aerothermal system will be installed to reduce energy consumption, in addition to incorporating an elevator and a lift at the entrance.
Once completed, the twelve apartments, featuring three bedrooms and between 70 and 80 m² of usable area, will be managed by the Agència de l'Habitatge de Catalunya. Eleven of these will be allocated to vulnerable families, while the twelfth will be reserved for emergency cases, ending 25 years of disuse for the property.
