The Green Way Platform has announced civic mobilizations to pressure the councils of Cambrils, Montroig-Miami, and l’Hospitalet de l’Infant to unblock the project converting the old railway line.

The organization recently met with the mayors of the three affected municipalities to gather information on the project's status. The main goal is to force an agreement with the Diputació de Tarragona (Provincial Council) and ADIF to start the works, which were awarded two years ago and are now at risk.

We run a real risk that the works, awarded 2 years ago, will be canceled and that we will lose a project long demanded by the citizens of our area.

The project aims to transform the old railway route into a greenway, offering residents a comfortable and safe way to travel between the municipalities. Furthermore, it is considered a key tourist attraction to de-seasonalize the area, “erasing a scar that divided our neighborhoods.”
To prevent the project from being forgotten, the organization has called for a series of mobilizations that will only stop when the works genuinely begin. The first action will take place next Saturday, February 7th, at 10 am at the Old Cambrils Station, consisting of a popular walk to the Riudecanyes Stream and back. The protests will be monthly and rotate among the municipalities.
