The Rural Agents have activated level 4 of the Pla Alfa, the highest level of danger, affecting 96 Catalan municipalities. This maximum alert strictly prohibits any access to the natural environment, with particular impact in the Baix Camp, Alt Camp, and Baix Penedès regions.
Highly visited natural spaces in the province, including the Prades mountains, the Montsant range, and Montmell-Marmellar, remain closed to the public. This situation of wildfire danger is expected to last until at least August 4th.
“"No matter how many times this situation has occurred this year, unfortunately, it does not mean it is any less serious now."
The Director General of Forests, Jaume Minguell, has urged maximum caution from the public, warning that the vegetation is highly stressed due to the high temperatures. He emphasized the importance of prohibiting forest access to prevent carelessness and ensure people's safety in case of evacuation.
Minguell cautioned that the public will have to get used to these closures, as the increasing number of hot days and extreme risk during summer will lead to more restricted access to nature.
