The Cambrils City Council has commemorated the victims of the August 2017 jihadist attacks with a solemn ceremony held in front of the Nautical Club, the scene of one of the pedestrian attacks.

The event, which took place on the promenade, recalled the moment when the terrorists ran over pedestrians, injuring five people at that spot. One of the injured, Josep Maria Rovira, attended the commemoration and shared his experience, stating he remembers nothing from the preceding days or the moment of the events.
At 87 years old, this adopted resident of Cambrils has highlighted his desire for normalcy by walking in the same place. "It happened, one must endure it and move forward," Rovira stated, showing resilience in the face of the events.
Political representatives and members of police forces participated in the ceremony. The city's mayor, Oliver Klein, read a manifesto reaffirming the condemnation of violence.
