The Culture Commission of the Parliament of Catalonia approved a proposal this Tuesday to place the Trapezi Fair in Reus on the same institutional and financial level as the country's main live arts fairs.

The initiative, led by Junts MP Jordi Bertran, urges the Government to dignify the circus world and overcome the historical stigma that has relegated it to a secondary role. The goal is to recognize circus arts on equal terms with music, theater, and dance.
The approved funding plan establishes a gradual increase in Generalitat contributions. From the 180,000 euros received in 2023, the amount will rise to 360.000 euros in 2026, 445,000 euros in 2027, and reach 500,000 euros by 2028. This aims to bring the total budget of the Reus event to between 1 and 1.2 million euros.

"If we do not provide the circus world with the same resources as music, theater, or dance, we are also making its future precarious."

This move seeks to align Trapezi with other strategic events like Manresa's Fira Mediterrània or Vic's Mercat de Música Viva. The resolution also aims to strengthen the international dimension of the fair, which will celebrate its 30th edition in 2026.
