This development, located on Jaume Vidal i Alcover street, is the result of a public-private collaboration through a surface right awarded by REDESSA for a period of 75 years. The awarded company, Llogueralia Reus (a UTE formed by Construcciones Rubau, SA and Sogeviso), is responsible for the construction, promotion, and management of the homes.
The project benefits from 3,427,425 euros in funding from the European Next Generation funds, allocated for the construction of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings. The initiative aims to address the need for affordable housing in the city.
“"Housing policies are a priority for the municipal government, and we use all available instruments to promote affordable public housing. We are driving the creation of 618 new affordable homes with public protection in the city."
The 132 homes have been designed according to the needs identified by the Municipal Housing Service. They include 78 two-bedroom units (between 49 and 55 m² usable area) and 54 three-bedroom units (between 63 and 72 m² usable area), six of which are adapted. All homes have their own outdoor space.
The building's design prioritizes energy efficiency, with measures such as exterior cladding, solar panel installation, and a large interior courtyard that facilitates cross-ventilation. Additionally, communal spaces and sustainable mobility are promoted, with shared areas, terraces, and a large bicycle parking facility on the ground floor.
Following the completion of works in June, the legalization of installations and administrative management are expected to be ready by September. The housing allocation process will begin in early July with the publication of the rules and the preparation of candidate lists. Key handover to tenants is scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
To be eligible for one of these public housing units, it is essential to be registered in the Registry of Applicants for Public Housing in Catalonia (RSHPO), in addition to meeting specific requirements.
