The celebration, promoted by the Coordinadora de Danses Tradicionals de Reus and the Institut Municipal Reus Cultura, will include a special parade, a retrospective exhibition, and the premiere of new costumes for the angel and the Christian faction.
The main event will take place on Saturday, June 13th, with the 25th-anniversary parade, featuring the participation of the Ball de Cavallets. The procession will start at 5:30 PM from the City Hall entrance, recreating the original premiere. During the parade, the new costumes for the angel and the Christian faction, crafted by tailor Josep Maria Casas from the shop El Barato, will be officially presented. The Christian attire has been renewed to harmonize with the Turkish costumes (made in 2021), and the angel's costume has been updated with a more neutral design.
The parade will wind through the old town streets to the Plaça del Baluard, where the performance dances will take place. The day will continue with a festive atmosphere including performances by Grallers els Padrins and a musical set by PD Intenses. Additionally, throughout the afternoon, attendees can enjoy a rice dish with galeras (a type of crustacean) paired with Reus vermouth, prepared by El Lligam Gastronòmic and the restaurant A Cullerades.
Furthermore, a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the history of the Ball de Galeres will open on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 5:30 PM, at the Castell del Cambrer. The exhibition, open from June 2nd to 6th and June 9th to 12th, will cover the dance's history from its first documented references in the 18th century to the present day, delving into its revival process and unique elements. It will feature photographs, some previously unpublished, an educational video, the first discarded prototype of a galera during the revival process, as well as original costume pieces and accessories.
