The Prototips program, which expanded its scope this year, held its final day on May 7 at firaReus Events. The Green team from Institut Gaudí was the winner with their proposal Green Xef, a project designed to promote healthier eating among young people.
The Green Xef initiative is developed in four key phases: initial theoretical training, practical workshops with industry professionals, the creation of a recipe book, and a double competition, both internal and inter-center, to select the most outstanding dish.
Under the question "How can we make young people in Reus eat better?", the main objective of the laboratory has been to find solutions that make healthy eating more accessible, attractive, and, above all, a shared experience. The day moved away from master classes to address the reality of adolescents, who often eat alone, in front of screens, or opt for unhealthy options due to lack of time or suitable spaces.
Participants worked on various itineraries, such as creating community around food in schools and neighborhoods, improving spaces where young people usually eat, communicating and raising awareness with creative and non-paternalistic formats, and ideating healthy and affordable business models for young audiences.
The chosen format for the event was a social innovation hackathon, an intensive idea marathon where young people had to find creative solutions to real challenges within a limited time. This day was structured into phases of empathy and problem definition, idea generation, and finally, prototyping to materialize ideas into tangible projects that were evaluated for their viability.
“"Our goal is to foster youth participation and teach them the entire process from the ideation phase to prototyping."
