The third edition of the Empelt festival, taking place in Selva del Camp on September 26th, will dedicate a day to championing the value of community centres and associations as fundamental spaces for community life and the revitalization of towns.
The els Ponts area will be transformed into a live arts stage for all audiences, featuring theatre, music, circus, dance performances, and other creative proposals, complemented by participatory activities and a gastronomic area.
This year, the festival coincides with the centenary of the Defensa Agrària, an event that will serve to reflect on the current importance of these spaces. The organization argues that the recovery of community centres not only preserves heritage but also fosters coexistence and access to culture.
Empelt will also highlight the situation of the Ateneu El Lauro, a heritage building in Selva del Camp that requires urgent intervention. The festival promotes collaboration between administrations, entities, and collectives for its restoration.
The festival's visual identity, inspired by cooperation, is the result of a shared effort between the La Torreta studio and users of the local entity L'Alzina, which works with individuals with intellectual diversity.
Since its inception in 2023, Empelt has aimed to bring live arts closer to the municipality and create spaces for citizen participation, strengthening community ties and rethinking the future of the spaces that have structured town life for generations.
