The Commercial Court number 1 of Tarragona has cleared a debt of 268,510.61 euros for a Reus resident who fell into severe insolvency following a highly conflictive divorce.

The financial crisis began in 2016 when the man's ex-wife moved to Argentina with their daughters and failed to return. This situation led to a severe depression, affecting his ability to manage mortgage payments and community fees.
After losing his job in 2018 and facing a refusal from the bank to restructure his mortgage, the man sought legal help. The court has now applied the Second Chance Law, recognizing him as a good-faith debtor overwhelmed by external circumstances.

"The Second Chance Law exists to protect good-faith debtors who find themselves in situations they could never have imagined."
