The Litterarum fair closes its latest edition in Móra d’Ebre with a positive balance, having expanded its geographical and artistic disciplinary diversity, and is now looking towards new international connections.

The Litterarum Fair has concluded its recent edition with a renewed emphasis on geographical diversity and a multiplicity of artistic disciplines, including poetry, narrative, theatre, music, and circus. Activities were primarily held in Móra d’Ebre, with prior extensions to new venues such as Reus, Tivissa, Calaceit, Tortosa, and Morella. The organization highlighted the promotion of contracts between artists and around forty cultural professionals, emphasizing the quality and uniqueness of the proposals, especially those in small and medium formats and the literature from the Ebro region.
The 19th edition of Litterarum united various artistic disciplines under the common theme of Catalan literature. Territorial diversity was a key focus, strengthened by alliances with institutions and entities from the Catalan Countries. The fair's director, Lluís-Xavier Flores, stressed the importance of continuing to support this path, aiming to connect the event with new entities in L'Alguer (Alghero) and Northern Catalonia. A film proposal from L'Alguer has even been received, illustrating the international projection they aim to achieve.
Beyond territorial expansion, Litterarum aims to grow in professional recognition. Thirty-seven cultural programmers from Catalan-speaking territories participated in the activities, spread across the main venue and its sub-venues. Jaume Gomila, from the Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears (Children and Youth Theatre Fair of the Balearic Islands), highlighted the importance of leveraging this cultural area for knowledge, works, and value-based entertainment. The organization's intention is to maintain this growth trajectory.
The fair also served as a meeting point for artistic companies and programmers. Pau Lleixà, cultural technician for the La Ràpita City Council, emphasized the role of venues in programming companies that do excellent work in promoting the Catalan language and authors, encouraging the public to support these performances.
Concurrently, the 23rd edition of the Fira del Llibre Ebrenc (Ebro Book Fair) is taking place. The intense heat at the end of May affected public attendance at the marquee in Plaça de Dalt, Móra d’Ebre, although sales remained similar to the previous year. Around twenty authors from the Ebro counties took the opportunity to present their latest literary works.
The next edition of Litterarum is yet to finalize dates, which may be influenced by the municipal elections in 2027, potentially leading to the postponement of the literary performance fair until after the elections.
