The Mayor of Mont-roig del Camp, Fran Morancho, has urged the Spanish Government to immediately tender improvement works for the N-340 highway, recently identified as the most dangerous stretch in the country.

According to a study by RACC, a six-kilometer section near Miami Platja in the Baix Camp region has a risk index of 200.9, the highest in the national network. Fran Morancho expressed frustration over the project being stalled in Madrid since 2023 due to administrative hurdles.

"It has been sent to Madrid for review and returned to Catalonia four times. We cannot wait any longer; this project is a necessity."

The planned upgrades aim to 'humanize' the road between Miami Platja and Cambrils by adding bike lanes, pedestrian paths, and roundabouts, as well as a new bridge over the A-7 motorway.
