Politician Noemí Llauradó (ERC) confirmed to Canal Reus that she will not stand as a candidate for mayor of Reus in the municipal elections scheduled for 2027.

The decision by the current First Deputy Mayor of Reus and President of the Diputació de Tarragona was made public during an interview on local television. Llauradó expressed her desire to take a step forward in the political sphere, having led the Republican list in three consecutive elections.

"After three elections, I no longer have the strength to repeat."

Furthermore, Noemí Llauradó proposed the name of her successor to lead ERC in Reus: the current Culture Councilor, Daniel Recasens. This decision, however, must be ratified by the local party assembly. Recasens has served as the number two on the list in the last two electoral calls.
With this withdrawal, Llauradó will conclude a twelve-year period as a councilor in the Reus City Council in June 2027. She led ERC's recovery in the council in 2015 and achieved the party's best historical result in the city in 2019, securing six councilors.
