Nursery teacher in Reus sentenced for child abuse

The court imposed prison time and fines after hidden cameras captured repeated assaults on toddlers.

A teacher at La Granja nursery in Reus has been sentenced for 36 counts of mistreatment against children aged one to three, captured by hidden cameras in 2021.

The court sentenced the main educator to 15 months in prison and fines totaling nearly 10,000 euros. The investigation began in Reus after a trainee student and a neighbor reported violent behavior toward the minors.
Police recordings showed shouting, hitting, and dangerous situations, such as leaving a child alone on a high changing table. The director of the center was also fined for failing to prevent the crimes.
