This initiative, launched in the city, seeks to promote the work and legacy of the renowned architect. Reus's mayor, Sandra Guaita, emphasized that this coupon reaffirms the Gaudí Year as a shared project that builds support and helps explain the value of our most universal architect's legacy worldwide.
During the presentation, a group of 15 blind individuals affiliated with ONCE experienced the Gaudí Centre as a sensory journey. This activity allowed them to better understand Gaudí's work and the genius's secrets. As part of the experience, they created adapted stained-glass windows that will be tested on the Sagrada Família model displayed at the center.
“"For study purposes as well as for simple leisure, blindness or visual impairment do not constitute an insurmountable barrier to accessing culture or artistic works. Blind people need direct contact with objects to facilitate exploration through touch. We thank the Gaudí Centre for making the work of the brilliant artist accessible at our fingertips."
The Gaudí Centre in Reus has established itself as a fully accessible space. It features tactile paving, audio description for the audiovisual 'El somnis del modernisme' (The Dreams of Modernism), and theatrical guided tours, along with a tactile model room. The center also organizes adapted workshops for blind individuals, ensuring universal and inclusive accessibility in all its activities. The staff at the Tourist Office received specific training from ONCE to better assist this group.
Spanning 1,200 m2 of exhibition space, the Gaudí Centre Reus is the sole interpretation center dedicated to the architect's life and work. This landmark cultural venue interactively explains the keys to Gaudí's architecture and Modernism in general, serving as the city's tribute to the universal artist.
