The Plaça del Mercadal in Reus was filled with a giant mosaic created by nearly 1,200 children, depicting the Ball de Galeres, this year's invited element for the 'Hola, Sant Pere!' event.

A total of 1,200 children from around thirty schools in the city participated in creating a large mosaic in the Plaça del Mercadal. The artwork represents the figure of the Ball de Galeres, this year's featured element in the event organized by Canal Reus with the support of the Reus City Council.
The students arrived at the square before 10 AM and, under the direction of artists Josep Prous and Xavier Oliach (from Art Club Salou), with a design by Jordi Romero, they organized themselves to form the image.
Once the assembly was complete, the children held up cardboard squares, provided by Tomàs Barberà, bringing the figure to life. To capture the event, a drone flew over the square to record images of the mosaic.
The 'Hola, Sant Pere!' event, initiated by Canal Reus over ten years ago, has previously highlighted iconic city elements such as the Àliga, the Lleó, the Mulassa, or the Ball de Cavallets.
This year, the choice of the Ball de Galeres was made due to its uniqueness as a dance found only in Catalonia and its significance within the city's festive parade (Seguici Festiu). This dance, a member of the Coordinadora de Danses Tradicionals de Reus, is celebrating its 25th anniversary since its revival.
