Demolition of an industrial warehouse in Reus to build housing.

The old industrial warehouse located on Carrilet Avenue in Reus will be demolished to build 47 affordable rental flats, as part of the Generalitat de Catalunya's Plan 50.000.

The site, which has been disused for years and had various proposals such as hosting the Carrilet Market or the Casa de la Festa, will now be dedicated to social housing. The city council has already initiated the process for the warehouse's demolition, with a base budget of approximately 400,000 euros and an execution period of two months.
The demolition presents additional complexity due to the presence of asbestos cement sheets in the roof. The awarded company will have to submit a specific plan that will require authorization from the Generalitat.
This housing project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Integral Action Plan of the Local Integrated Development Strategy (EDIL). The EU contributes 40% of the funding, while the remaining 60% is covered by the Reus City Council.
In parallel, the city council is processing the demolition of other properties on Balmes, 30, 32, and 34 streets, a project currently in the public exhibition phase and which will be tendered soon.
