The Local Government Board of the Reus City Council approved on Friday, April 17, the 2025 Sidewalk Plan project, with a budget of 342,152.17 euros, to improve public roads.

This initiative is part of the municipal investment plan and primarily aims to correct deficiencies identified in various parts of the city. Works will focus on repairing sidewalks in five specific locations: Frederic Soler street at Bernat Cabrera, Doctor Domènech street, Roger de Belfort street, Constantí street, and Pere el Cerimoniós avenue.
The issues to be addressed mainly include the aging of pavements due to continuous use, vehicle traffic for loading and unloading, and the growth of tree roots, which damage tree pits and paving stones. To select these intervention points, the council applied technical criteria such as improving accessibility, road safety, the degree of existing degradation, and current regulatory requirements.
The renovation works will involve installing paving stones or precast concrete with a granite-like finish, adapted to the characteristics of each section. Additionally, the corresponding curb ramps will be adjusted to ensure proper accessibility. This investment package is allocated to larger-scale interventions, while smaller-scale works continue to be managed by the Public Works Department through the Municipal Brigades.
