The Reus City Council has announced the hiring of 42 people for 2026 through its municipal employment plan, increasing the figure compared to previous years.

The municipal employment plan of Reus foresees the hiring of 42 people during 2026, a figure that represents a new increase compared to previous years. This program, developed with the support of the Servei d'Ocupació de Catalunya (SOC), has the main objective of facilitating labor market entry for groups with greater insertion difficulties.
Of these hires, 34 are part of the Treball i Formació (Work and Training) program, aimed at individuals in situations of vulnerability or at risk of labor and social exclusion. Additionally, four young graduates will be incorporated through the Joves en Pràctiques a Catalunya (Young People in Practice in Catalonia) program, and four individuals over 52 years old through the MG-52 program.
Data provided by the council shows a sustained growth of the plan: five contracts in 2022, fifteen in 2023, 38 in 2024, 41 in 2025, and now the 42 planned for 2026. The Councilor for General Services, Finance, and Good Governance, Manel Muñoz, highlighted that the expansion of the plan "reaffirms the commitment of the Reus City Council to creating job opportunities and social inclusion".
The 34 individuals from the Treball i Formació program joined their positions on July 22nd. They will work full-time for twelve months in various municipal departments, including Brigades, Public Works, Urban Planning, Local Police, Library, schools, civic centers, Social Services, and citizen service offices. These contracts, subsidized by the SOC, include training and support to enhance participants' professional development.
The Treball i Formació program targets priority groups such as long-term unemployed individuals not receiving benefits, recipients of the guaranteed minimum income, long-term unemployed women or those experiencing gender-based violence, and transgender individuals or those with non-normative gender identities.
In parallel, the Joves en Pràctiques a Catalunya program, subsidized by the SOC and co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus, will allow the incorporation of four young people for twelve months to gain professional experience and improve their employability.
Finally, four administrative assistant positions have been requested for individuals aged 52 and over through the SOC's MG-52 program. These contracts will also be for twelve months on a full-time basis and will include training linked to the job. Preference will be given to single mothers and individuals without sufficient contributions for retirement.
