The Reus City Council has started construction this week to transform a vacant lot on Comunitat de Múrcia street into a new free park-and-ride facility with capacity for 75 vehicles.

The project, carried out by the Municipal Brigades, is located next to Sant Bernat Calbó Avenue. Although neighbors already used this lot informally, the current works aim to level the ground, repair potholes, and compact the surface to improve parking conditions.
The plan also includes accessibility improvements. A new driveway will be built to facilitate vehicle entry and exit, and two new pedestrian crossings will be added on Rioja street. This measure is part of the municipal strategy to provide parking alternatives outside the Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
Additionally, the council is tendering another parking lot in the Dyna industrial estate with a budget of 56,284 euros. This facility, located between Vilanova i la Geltrú, Terrassa, and Sitges streets, will add approximately 220 spaces and include public lighting.
The local government aims to add 450 new park-and-ride spaces by 2026. Future projects include a site in the Jardins de Reus neighborhood with 154 spaces and another in Mas Iglesias, near the future Bellissens train station, which could accommodate up to 300 vehicles.
