This action is part of the municipal policies to mitigate temperature increases and combat the urban heat island effect, complementing other initiatives such as the Reus Respira tree-planting plan or the deployment of climate refuges. The project has a budget of 82,279 euros.
The design of the awnings for Llovera street prioritizes efficiency, safety, resistance, and durability, aiming for visual uniformity. Furthermore, consideration has been given to the protection and visibility of the street's heritage buildings, adhering to the requirements of the Special Plan for the Protection of Architectural Heritage of Reus.
The awnings will be located at the upper part of the facades, with variable heights according to the buildings, and will be installed at a 30-degree angle, forming a 'V' along the street's axis. The resulting visual composition will combine order and repetition, adapting to the different heights of the properties.
To ensure wind resistance, the fastening system will limit the movement of the sails, and they will be divided into sections. The inclination of the awnings will also prevent water accumulation in case of rain.
