The event, now in its 33rd edition, aims to raise awareness about a neurodegenerative disease that affects nearly 900 people in the Tarragona region and about 12,000 throughout Catalonia. The main event in the area took place at the Club Tennis Reus Monterols, where traditional solidarity swims were held.
The funds raised during this day are used to improve patient care. In the capital of Baix Camp, this work is channeled through the Mas Sabater neurorehabilitation center, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The facility provides weekly support to nearly a hundred people through physiotherapy, speech therapy, and psychology services, among others.
Beyond fundraising, the campaign serves as an awareness tool for a condition often called the disease of a thousand faces, due to the diversity of symptoms it presents, such as extreme fatigue or cognitive difficulties. In addition to Monterols, the initiative was present in other locations such as Parc dels Capellans, Reus Deportiu, and CN Reus Ploms.
