The main objectives of the new service are addressing difficulties with new technologies, finding leisure spaces, and combating unwanted loneliness and lack of emotional well-being among Reus residents over 60 years old. The project, promoted by the Services to People and Social Rights area, has a grant from the European Social Fund Plus of 437,352 euros for a two-year period.
“"The service is key to specifically addressing a very representative part of the city, considering that, according to the municipal register, there are 21,300 people over 65 years old in Reus, nearly 20% of the population."
The SEAP +60 is structured as a comprehensive service grouping different lines of action. These include Espai Vida, which offers specialized advice on social, legal, and health matters, and the Connectats program, focused on combating social isolation through technological support and telecare.
The service also includes the Sortim program, focused on improving the emotional well-being of vulnerable individuals, and the Cuidem program, aimed at family caregivers with mutual aid groups. Furthermore, the service coordinates with the Emotional and Mental Well-being Guidance and Care Service (SOABEM) to facilitate the detection and referral of emotional distress.
In-person care is provided at seven points located in civic centers and other municipal spaces in Reus, without the need for prior appointment. Some of the centers offering the service since this week include the Centre Cívic del Carme, Centre Cívic Mas Abelló, Mestral, Migjorn, Llevant, and Gregal.
