Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) has implemented a new network of 280 purple points at its stations and on its mobile application to enhance the safety of women using public transport.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) has launched an initiative to improve the safety of women using public transport with the installation of 280 purple points at stations. These units allow users to press a button to alert specialized personnel who will take immediate action, such as dispatching Ferrocarrils staff to assist the affected person.
Concurrently, the same functionality is available through FGC's mobile app, downloaded by approximately 75,000 users. This feature enables victims or witnesses to report inappropriate behavior anonymously and in real-time.
Regional ministers Eva Menor (Equality) and Sílvia Paneque (Territory) presented the new service, highlighting the advertising slogan "Wherever you are, we are here." They emphasized that the message aims to remind women they are not alone, even in crowded carriages, if they face verbal or physical harassment, deeming all such aggressions unacceptable.
During a demonstration, a scenario was simulated where the person activating the purple point was visible via a screen. Even though the aggressor had already left, station staff responded promptly following an established protocol, offering the user the option to rest and talk in private facilities.
