The Government of Catalonia will allocate approximately 1.5 million euros to the second phase of the Escola dels Oficis de Reus, ensuring its completion and planned launch in 2027.

The necessary amount to advance the second phase of the Escola dels Oficis de Reus, approximately 1.5 million euros, has been incorporated into an amendment to the Generalitat's accompanying budget law. The project, which includes the creation of an 860-square-meter space with training classrooms, common areas, reception, and administration rooms, with potential for expansion, will soon be put out to tender.
Following the first phase, focused on consolidating the Vapor Vell building and constructing facades and the roof, which received a 450,000 euro subsidy from the Provincial Council of Tarragona, the project now has the necessary funding for its completion. The Escola dels Oficis aims to meet the demand and improve the employability of the business sector through tailored training, while also fostering business synergies.
Òscar Subirats, the Councillor for Business, Training, and Employment of the Reus City Council, indicated that the Escola dels Oficis is expected to become operational in 2027. Subirats, who will leave his position after the upcoming municipal elections to become the general manager of Gesat in Tortosa, declined to comment on his departure.
Amendment 113, submitted by ERC with the support of PSC and Comuns, stipulates that the Department of Business and Labour allocate resources for construction, equipment, machinery, and vocational training, including customized training for business needs. Jordi Albert, an ERC deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia, emphasized the importance of transforming what is significant for Reus into a national priority, presenting the model as "useful and exportable".
Daniel Recasens, ERC's mayoral candidate for Reus, highlighted that this project is a commitment from the municipal government, included in the 2023-2027 Municipal Action Plan. He also stressed ERC's negotiation capabilities in making the Escola dels Oficis a priority. The project has progressed through needs assessments, surveys, and working sessions with businesses, as well as pilot programs and the establishment of a steering group.
Noemí Llauradó, regional president of ERC in Camp de Tarragona, defended the Republican party's ability to secure resources and turn ideas into reality, delivering positive outcomes for citizens.
