The Reus City Council approved on Friday, March 13, the acquisition and subsequent demolition of two buildings on Balmes Street to allow for the extension of Carrilet Avenue.

The Local Government Board has finalized the expropriation agreements for the properties located at numbers 32 and 34. This urban project aims to remove long-standing barriers, improving the connection between the Carrilet neighborhood and the city's central ring road.

"With this urban operation, the City Council resolves a historic project and takes a step forward in completing a strategic urban axis."

According to the General Urban Planning Plan, the resulting space will be designated as a public green zone. This initiative aligns with the 2023-2027 Municipal Action Plan, focusing on enhancing public space quality and urban permeability in the Baix Camp capital.
The redevelopment project will also be coordinated with the planned expansion of the Carrilet municipal underground parking. This integrated approach ensures that future urban interventions in the area are synchronized to improve overall mobility and infrastructure.
