The Community of Irrigators alerted CECAT about the imminent overflow of the Riudecanyes reservoir in Baix Camp, as heavy rainfall pushed water levels close to maximum capacity this Monday.

The reservoir water has reached the level of 219.30 meters, compared to a maximum capacity of 219.50 meters. Overflowing is expected in the coming hours if the inflow continues. Strong winds during Monday morning have also helped generate waves and discharge water into the stream.
Due to this situation, the irrigators have requested CECAT to issue a warning to downstream municipalities, including Riudecanyes, Montbrió del Camp, Cambrils, and Mont-roig del Camp, urging them to close low-lying areas and access points to the riverbed.

maximum caution given the high level of the reservoir and the possibility of sudden discharges or water entries into the stream, even unexpectedly due to the effect of wind and waves.

The Riudecanyes Town Council has already issued a public announcement, advising residents not to approach the riverbed or low points and to avoid any activity in these areas. The council has declared all fords, access points, and flood zones closed to prevent risks associated with a possible sudden increase in water flow.
