The Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus has implemented a new 1.38 MW photovoltaic solar installation, which will cover 10% of its annual electricity consumption and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

This initiative, promoted by L'Energètica (Public Renewable Energies of Catalonia), involves the installation of 2,894 solar panels covering 5,580 square meters of the hospital's rooftops. The plant will generate 1,839,300 kWh annually, energy that will be entirely consumed by the hospital.
The total investment for this project amounts to 965,176 euros and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) of Catalonia 2021-2027. This action is part of L'Energètica's strategy to utilize the 1,400 rooftops of the Generalitat for green energy production.
The commissioning of this installation will not only result in energy savings for the hospital but will also contribute to environmental sustainability, preventing the emission of 443 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.
